The BS01 instrument constructed by 2 Effe Engineering to detect Barkhausen Noise is extremely simple to use.
A microcontroller governs the data display, the amplitude of the probe signal, conversion of the datum arriving from the analog circuit and the threshold values.

There is a selector for choosing the material of the sample being analysed.

The backlit liquid crystal display shows the type of material selected on the top line, and the RMS Barkhausen value on the second line.

The threshold values (obtained from the calibration curve created by means of the diffractometer) are relative to the selected material and cause green and red LEDs to light up which given an immediate evaluation of the piece being examined.
